About Us

About Grace Lutheran Church

The purpose and mission of our congregation is to be faithful to the command of Jesus Christ, our Lord, "to make more and better disciples by sharing Jesus' love."

We believe that the Bible is the inspired Word of God.  It is true and without error.  "Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation.  For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit."
(2 Peter 1:20-21)

We believe that Adam and Eve, whom God created, rebelled against Him and their natures became corrupt.  Now every human being is born with a self-centered nature and a tendency for evil that violates God's will and desire.  People need forgiveness and new life, and God provides it through His grace.  "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God and are justified freely by His grace through the redemption that came by Christ Jesus."
(Romans 3:23)

We believe that God is Triune.  He has come to us as three persons in one God; Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  We believe that God created the universe and sustains it with His almighty power. "He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together."
(Colossians 1:17)

We believe that God loved the world so much that He sent His one and only Son into the world to bear our sin and be our Savior.  Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for our sin and rose from the dead as the firstfruits of all who will rise to eternal life through faith in Him. "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
(John 3:16)

We believe that people cannot earn forgiveness or a place in heaven. It is a gift that we must receive through faith in Christ.  Faith itself is a gift of God worked in our hearts by the Holy Spirit through the Word of God. "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith - and this not from yourselves, it is the gift of God - not by works, so that no one can boast."
(Ephesians 2:8-9)
